A new Spoiler feature has been added.

1. Highlight your text and click the "spoiler=" button to use it.
2. Add a name in quotes after the equals sign before the close square bracket like this:
Code: Select all
Add the spoiler text here.
Note that the button only appears on the posting page.

See the spoiler below:

Hey, Andy!

You got it to work! Fantastic!

Perhaps I should explain what a "spoiler" is. (It may be an American term that's not used in Australia.) A "spoiler" in movie terms refers to something that would spoil (as in ruin) a surprise that a first time viewer may want to experience watching a movie rather than be told beforehand.

I suppose the term can be used for sporting events watched on a time delay/recording as well, but since we talk about movies here mostly, I thought having the ability to "hide" things about movies would be useful when we talk about them. This way the folks here can read about a movie they haven't seen yet, but still keep the stuff they don't want to know yet hidden.

Hope that makes sense! ;)

G,day Ben,
Many thanks.. To best of my knowledge "spoiler" is not a term used out here (Except maybe on 737 or Mustang a/c) :) A pity it could not be applied in conversation ie when someone tells you the result of a footy match, movie, or such which one hasn,t seen! :x

Hah, yes, in aviation (and auto racing as well) a spoiler does the same thing--spoils (as in ruins) lift (by detaching airflow). The net result is is it destroys/interferes with lift.
