Like most people (I'm guessing), I've become a bit bored with superhero movies. I keep watching them hoping to either recharge my enthusiasm or be the last straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back and I swear them off for good. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (CA:TWS) has done the former. What really worked for me is instead of huge set piece battles where I have no idea what's going on, this one gets into the character and the battles are more intimate (hand-to-hand combat as opposed to massive battles with thousands of explosions).
What CA:TWS has demonstrated is you can have exciting battles, but you can keep the audience with you step by step, punch by punch. I know a lot was CG, but I could keep up with it and reveled in the coolness factor. I know some people might think that maybe I'm too old and just can't keep up, but if my teens are like most (and I'd like to think so), they feel the same way I do about CA:TWS. This is the best superhero movie to come around in a long time.
