Spamming hoards

Postby Ben Chiu » Wed Aug 21, 2013 10:03 am

We're starting to get a lot more traffic here. An unfortunate by-product of popularity on the interwebs are the spamming hoards. We've already successfully taken measures to thwart the spamming bots, but we've started getting spamming humans in the mix as of last night. The only thing I can think of is to make the registration anti-spam questions harder for a non-American to figure out. For now, we'll just take a wait and see how big of a problem this is before we do anything more.

For those of you getting Forum digests, I apologize that these idiots got through. Please note that you can adjust your digest (see the User Control Panel) to only receive posts in the private forums (which the spammers don't have access to) and the problem will be solved for you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Ben

We got another spammer posting to the forums. This time it was a human (from India).

I've adjusted the forums to moderate newly registered users. This should put an end to the spam posts.
